Greater Washington Chinese Dance
Greater Washington Chinese Dance (GWCD) was established in 2022 as the nonprofit affiliate of the Xuejuan Dance Ensemble (XDE). Its goal is to bring to art of Chinese Dance to diverse audiences in the United States. XDE has been dedicated to the education and performance of Chinese Dance for 14 years. Based in Herdon, VA, XDE offers rigorous and comprehensive training in ethnic, contemporary, and classical genres of Chinese Dance. The ensemble provides training in technique and repertoire to children, teens, and adults through a diverse curriculum. GWCD was established to complement and enhance the work of XDE.

Inspired by the ancient wisdom of the 24 Chinese Solar Terms, When Seasons Bloom unfolds the ever-turning cycle of life through the passing of the four seasons. As ethereal spirits of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter entrust one another with the care of the natural world, Chinese classical and folk dances bring to life the imagery and quiet magic woven into the rhythms of nature.

GWCD conducts outreach by promoting Chinese culture through performances, workshops, and collaborations with schools and community events. The team actively engages with students and local communities to create opportunities for cultural exchange, artistic appreciation, and greater awareness of traditional and contemporary Chinese Dance.
